Mob Wars
I started playing the Facebook application ‘Mob Wars’ about two weeks ago and to my surprise I actually really enjoy it. The concept of the game is simple: build a mob by recruiting your friends, buy as much real estate as possible, arm your mob with the best weapons and vehicles, then kill anyone that stands in your way.
However, becoming the best can be harder then it might seem. After all, like many other Facebook apps, Mob Wars requires you to send invitations to your Facebook friends. This is how a mob is built and without a mob, it is difficult to progress past a certain level. The problem is that many people have grown accustomed to simply ignoring these application invites. I know, because I used to be one of them.
Luckily, there is a relatively simple solution. It requires a little effort, but its better then giving complete strangers access to your Facebook profile just to play a game.
WARNING: **Mob Wars seems to have updated their code–this process no longer works**
The following tutorial requires that you use Firefox and install the following add-on.
THIS IS NOT A SCRIPT.
- Once you have downloaded and installed the HTTP Headers add-on, click the ‘Tools’ menu in Firefox and then click on ‘Live HTTP headers’.
- Once the tool is open, make sure that ‘Capture’ is checked off.
- Next, navigate to the Mob Wars ‘My Mob’ section and click on one of your friends to send an invitation.
- After sending the invitation, look through the captured code until you find:
the url that ends in ‘mob/do.php’ - Once you find and highlight the line, press ‘Replay’
- The number highlighted in the image is the user_id number.
- From here you have two options:
- Find other mobsters user_id numbers, by their url.
- Find other mobsters user_id numbers in the pages source (right-click).
- Find other mobsters user_id numbers, by their url.
Hitting ctrl-f will bring up a search window. Type ‘user_id’ into the search and hit enter twice.
Once user_id is located, replace the old number with the new number and hit ‘Replay’
If you have any trouble, here is a video explaining the process.
Also, if you want to be added to a mob, leave your user_id in a comment.

There appears to have been some miss communication. If you go to your stats page, the number at the end of your url is your user_id number. This is the number you need to write in the comments section.
I currently do not know of a way to search mobsters by their mob name alone.

I tried followed the steps and everything, but it’s not working for me. I keep getting a page that says “Bad Request. Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.
Invalid Content-Length”

I am now over the limit of mobsters I am allowed to invite, therefore I cannot try to duplicate your error. However, the people in my mob have told me that the process still works.
One possible thing that could be causing the problem, is the user_id. If you are adding mobsters by looking at the page source for user_ids, the first one that pops up after the search is your user_id. Make sure you use a different user_id.

You must just refresh the page ( press F5 )
When i try this out, i can’ invite anyone, it says ‘authentication failure’, any idea how to fix this?

Hey Anyone know how to make an Apple Automator script to take the step of entering the id number in increments prior to hitting the replay on the tutorial. Or scrap the id number, then automatically send the url request, and loop to the next so its automated

damn, it aint working anymore, mobwars has updated a protection which says that we have to be friends with the peoples we invite before we can add ‘em to our mob..
the message u now will get is:

d’oh! Yep, I got the same error message. What a shame.
I guess I should have used this feature more when I had the opportunity. Now, everyone in my level has 100-200 more than I do, leaving it pretty tough to find a good fight.
Anyone hear any word about a workaround?

Alright, unfortunately it appears that Mob Wars has fixed this loophole. I will try to see if any other methods still exist. I know there were a few greasemonkey invite scripts that automated a process similar to this, but I have not found out how well they work. If I find anything out I will be sure to post an update.
